My first action as the mayor of my city is…making all the flat roofs green and accessible. Some roofs will be public spaces, others private gardens or community gardens. There will also be roof villages and farms. Once a year, I will switch off all the lights in the city. Through this ritual citizens share a special moment together on the roof watching the sky full of stars. It is a moment for reflection and beauty, to feel connected to each other, and to remind ourselves that we are all astronauts on planet earth.
